The appointment with "M'llumino di meno" returns, the initiative born twenty years ago from an idea by Caterpillar, a Rai Radio 2 radio broadcast which aims to raise public awareness of the importance of energy saving and of environmental protection.

"M'Illumino di Meno", in the 2024 edition, looks beyond national borders and promotes international cooperation. It invites everyone to seek global alliances through twinning between municipalities, international projects for educational institutions, universities and research centers, as well as through the presence of corporate headquarters abroad.

The basic concept is simple: for one night, people are asked to minimize the use of electric lights, both in private homes and in public places. This seemingly modest gesture has a significant impact on overall energy consumption, thus contributing to reducing pollution and CO2 emissions.

The initiative sponsored by RUS - Network of universities for sustainable development - will actively involve some branches of the Sant'Anna School and the headquarters of University of Pisa.

In particular, on 16 February, at 6.15 pm, the School will symbolically turn off the lighting on the external facade of the Headquarters at number 33 of Piazza Martiri della Libertà, of the Cloister of San Gerolamo and of Palazzo Alliata, at number 24 of the same square .

The shutdown, albeit for a few minutes, has the aim of raising awareness among the academic community and the city community on the importance of more responsible and sustainable energy consumption.
